WHITLAM LEISURE CENTRE FRONT ENTRANCE RENOVATION AND CAR PARK LIGHTING
IMPROVEMENT
Liverpool City Council is carrying out renovation and renewal works to the Whitlam Leisure Centre between November 2009
and December 2010. These works are being funded by The Australian Government Community Infrastructure Program and
Liverpool City Council. The renovation to the front entrance and car park lighting improvement will include:
• Removal and renewal of paving
• Lane marking and aquatic feature artwork to paving
• Provision of an entry seating wall
• Remodelling of landscaped areas
• Reconfiguring the vehicle set down area
• New stadium entry ticket box
• Improved car park, roadway and forecourt lighting
Car park lighting modifications are necessary to improve night time visibility and safety of patrons. The car park lighting
improvement will necessitate standardisation of light fittings and the removal and pruning of foliage. Council’s bush
regeneration program will provide additional tree planting along Brickmakers Creek.
While the Centre will remain open to the public construction zones will be barricaded off for the protection of the works and
the facility users.
Plans of the Whitlam Leisure Centre front entrance upgrade can be viewed in the foyer of the Whitlam Leisure Centre,
the foyer of Council’s Administration Centre and on the internet.

Bankstown Airport Proposed Australian Noise Exposure Forecast (ANEF) Changes
Bankstown Airport Limited has provided council with a Preliminary Draft Bankstown Airport Masterplan which proposes a change
in the 20 and 25 ANEF noise contours at Chipping Norton. This means that additional properties will now be affected by aircraft
noise. Council has undertaken to notify the affected landowners by mail of the draft Masterplan. Subsequently Bankstown Airport
have provided revised information which has substantially decreased the area newly affected by the ANEF. The revised masterplan
will mean that the area impacted by the ANEF will increase when compared to the existing controls. Council has sent letters to
all landowners advising of how the revised masterplan affects their property.
Any new development within the area impacted by the ANEF will need to comply with Australian Standard AS 2021-2000
(Acoustics – aircraft noise intrusion – building, siting and construction).
This requirement is likely to add additional costs to a new dwelling in the area affected by the 20 to 25 ANEF as additional
noise mitigation works will be required.
Since the Preliminary Draft Plans were developed and released in September, noise forecasts have been revised which has
reduced the impact the draft Masterplan will have on residents.
The Masterplan has been drafted by Bankstown Airport Limited and must be endorsed by Airservices Australia and adopted
by the Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government.
It should be noted that the Masterplan is not a council document.
The draft Masterplan is currently on public exhibition and the exhibition material is available here.
Information has also been displayed at Liverpool Council Administration Building as well as Moorebank and Liverpool City Libraries.
Written submissions will be accepted by Bankstown Airport Limited until 18 December 2009.
