Community and Recreation Panel

The Community and Recreation Panel was established in 1998 in response to a recommendation of Council's Social Justice Strategy.  The objectives of the panel are to:

  • Raise emerging issues associated with social and recreation needs and recommend actions, goals and solutions
  • Actively participate in the development of Council’s social and recreation policies
  • Provide advice, as required, on subsidies to and use of community facilities and donations to community organisations and
  • Liaise with the Sports Committee in relation to sporting matters.

COMMUNITY AND RECREATION PANEL MEMBERS

Every two years, Council calls for nominations from people living or working in the Liverpool local government area to join the Community and Recreation Panel as community and/or recreation representatives.

The role of the eight selected representatives is to bring their knowledge of community services and facilities and/or recreation needs or issues in the local community to the Panel.  This knowledge enables the Community and Recreation Panel to give informed advice to Council on a wide range of community and recreation issues.

Council nominated two Councillors and three Council staff to the Panel.

The Panel representatives attend six bimonthly evening meetings (approximately two hours) each year for a two-year term.

The Community and Recreation Panel members for 2009-2010 are:
