Economic development

Liverpool City Council is committed to working with industry, community and the other tiers of government to improve investment, employment and learning opportunities in the Liverpool local government area (LGA) and South Western Sydney.

Liverpool is the Central City of South West Sydney, a region comprising 750,000 residents and forecast to grow to over 1,000,000 in the next 20 years.

As the most rapidly growing locality in NSW, Liverpool urgently needs to increase the number and quality of higher order jobs. Council has targeted one job for every new dwelling in the LGA and recognising the Liverpool City Centre as the economic engine of the LGA Council has an achievable target of increasing the number of jobs in the City Centre from 13,000 to 30,000 by 2020.

Council works to achieve these targets in three broad areas growing existing business, attracting new investment and though learning programs.
