Seniors/older people 

Liverpool City Council's commitment to providing for the needs of our older community is reflected in Council's Aged and Disability program. 

The program includes:

  • Consulting with older people and identifying needs in Liverpool with a view to resolution
  • Implementing initiatives for seniors identified in Liverpool City Council's Social Plan
  • Supporting local service providers and networks
  • Coordinating seniors community events such as Seniors Week and the Seniors Concert 
  • Identifying aged care service funding needs with a view to expanding service delivery in the Liverpool local government area
  • Providing information and advice on Senior services or groups to local residents.

Liverpool Seniors Network 

The Seniors Network is a group of representatives from local senior citizen groups/services which meets monthly to address matters of concern to older people and plan community events targeted at older people.

Liverpool City Council's Community Development Worker (Aged and Disability) works in partnership with the Seniors Network to advocate and lobby for the needs of older people in Liverpool.  The officer works in conjunction with the Network to plan and implement the annual Seniors Concert and Seniors Week activities.

Senior Network meetings are held every second Monday of the month from 1-3pm in the Liverpool Room at Liverpool City Council's Administration Centre, 1 Hoxton Park Road, Liverpool.

The 2009 meeting dates are:

  • Monday 9 February
  • Monday 9 March
  • Monday 6 April (Due to Easter)
  • Monday 11 May
  • Monday 1 June (Due to Queen's Birthday)
  • Monday 13 July
  • Monday 10 August
  • Monday 14 September
  • Monday 12 October
  • Monday 9 November
  • Monday 14 December

LIverpool Seniors week 

Each year in May, Council and the Seniors Network run a range of Seniors Week events and activities. The celebrations generally include a social luncheon, bus trips, a Seniors Expo and information sessions aimed at older people.

2009 LIverpool MAYORAL Concert  

Tickets sales to the Liverpool Mayoral Concert are advertised in the local paper and go on sale on Monday 26 October 2009 from 8.30am - 11.30am at the Hilda M Davis Senior Citizens Centre, 185 Bigge Street Liverpool. A seniors card must be shown to purchase tickets. There is a limit of two tickets per person.

Remaining tickets will be available to purchase until sold out from 27 October at the Customer Service Centre located at the Liverpool City Library, 170 George Street Liverpool.

The Liverpool Mayoral Concert will be held on Monday 16, Tuesday 17 and Wednesday 18 November from 10am-2.30pm at Liverpool Catholic Club, corner Joadja and Hoxton Park Roads, Liverpool. The concert features a variety of versatile entertainers and includes a light lunch.
