Council's dedicated Community Development Worker - NESB provides information and advice on issues to the community, service providers and Council, and works to raise awareness of NESB issues and develop relevant projects and support.
Some ways in which the community is supported include:
- Convening the Liverpool Refugee and Migrant Interagency
- Developing a cross-cultural training program for workers in Liverpool LGA
- Organising Refugee Week events
- Providing information and advice for NESB community groups
- Developing best practice for communication between Liverpool City Council and NESB residents
- Coordinating the Liverpool Migrant and Refugee Network e-group
- Coordinates the Language Aide Program
- Coordinates the Local Ethnic Affairs Priorities Statement (LEAPS) Taskforce
- Coordinates the Discovery Tour Program
- Organises Harmony Day events.
