Australia Day is about getting together as a nation to celebrate what's great about Australia and being Australian, and it's a excellent opportunity to recognise the achievements of the local legends who help make Liverpool such a great city.
Australia Day Awards are given in four categories:
Citizen of the Year – for individuals 24 years and over
Young Citizen of the Year – for young people 23 years and under
Fraser Environment Award – for recognition of work to protect and improve our local environment
Sports Awards – for talented sportspeople, teams or clubs.

Eligibility criteria
Citizen of the Year: To be eligible for this award, the nominated person must be an Australian citizen over 25 years of age who either lives, works or studies in the City of Liverpool and who has either made a noteworthy contribution during the current year and/or given outstanding service to the local community over a number of years.
Young Citizen of the Year: To be eligible for this award, the nominated person must be an Australian citizen under 25 years of age who either lives, works or studies in the City of Liverpool and who has either made a noteworthy contribution during the current year and/or given outstanding service to the local community over a number of years.
Fraser Environment Award: This award, named after a former councillor, recognises the work of an individual, group or organisation that has devoted time, energy and passion to the Liverpool environment. This contribution can occur in the year prior to the award being presented, or as recognition of a long-standing commitment or service to the Liverpool environment. Large funded organisations are excluded.
Sports Award: To be eligible for this award, the nominated person must be an Australian citizen who either lives, works or studies in the City of Liverpool, and has significant achievements in their chosen sporting field either during the current year or over a number of years.

2010 Bicentenary Australia Day Awards entries now open
Don’t miss the chance to nominate our local heroes for the awards. Residents of Liverpool City are eligible for the awards in four categories including: Sport, Young Citizen, Citizen of the Year and Service to the Environment.
Nominations are judged by the Australia Day committee and are assessed on how they reflect the requirements of each of the four categories.
Nominations close Friday, 30 October 2009.
