Self Employment - New Enterprise Incentive Scheme (NEIS)

Job seekers who are interested in running a new small business may be eligible to participate in the New Enterprise Incentive Scheme (NEIS), delivered as part of jobactive.

What is NEIS?

NEIS is a programme delivered by a network of 21 providers who provide individualised help for job seekers to become self-employed business owners.

If you are a job seeker, find out more about how the NEIS can help you become a self-employed business owner. Further information is also available on the eligibility requirements for job seekers and the sorts of business ideas that are eligible under NEIS, and on NEIS training, support and payments.

Employers looking for staff

If you need staff for your business there are a number of services, programmes and incentives that can help you.

Your local jobactive provider will work with you to understand and meet your staffing needs. They will refer potential employees for your business who are ready for a real work environment and provide support after your new employee starts work and as they settle into the job.

  • Your jobactive provider can also provide you with access to a number of wage subsidies to help you increase your workforce.

Wage subsidies are available through your local jobactive provider – you can find them on the jobactive website.
