About Strengthening Our Community Sector

The Community Development and Planning team is committed to building a strong Community Services Sector in Liverpool that can lead social change. A robust and interconnected community services sector has the power to improve the services that are provided to the local community.  A strong community services sector is better able to:

  • participate in partnership projects, pool resources and improve referrals and coordination
  • attract more funding and resources to the local government area
  • attract and retain skilled and experienced staff
  • develop innovative responses to community priorities, and seek new initiatives and opportunities
  • engage with local communities and improve civic participation and volunteering opportunities

  • support community lobbying and advocacy
  • develop and maintain sustainable governance structures
  • respond to the changing needs and priorities of the community
  • represent Liverpool at regional, state and national levels
