WHAT IS THE COMMUNITY AND RECREATION PANEL?

The Panel has been established primarily to provide community views to Council in relation to social and recreation matters and aims to improve social justice within Liverpool. The panel has the following specific objectives:

  • Provide community input into Council decision-making in relation to social and recreation matters;
  • Increase the range of community services and facilities available to the community;
  • Improve the quality of existing community services and facilities; and
  • Assist the community as a whole, and disadvantaged communities in particular, to achieve a better quality of life.

COMMUNITY AND RECREATION PANEL MEMBERS 

Every two years, Council appoints eight people living in the Liverpool Local Government Area as representatives on the Community and Recreation Panel.

The role of these eight selected representatives is to bring their knowledge of needs or issues in relation to community and recreation services and facilities in the Liverpool community to the panel. This knowledge enables the Community and Recreation Panel to give informed advice to Council on a wide range of community and recreation issues.

Council nominates two Councillors and several Council staff to the Panel. Panel representatives attend six bi-monthly evening meetings each year over the two-year term.

 

The Community and Recreation Panel members for 2011 and 2012 are:
