Compliance

Compliance is an arm of Council's Enforcement & Parking Unit. The Compliance role is to investigate and monitor unauthorised development including, illegal landfill and unauthorised business activities, and to monitor compliance of conditions of consent for approved development.

Compliance Officers can be required to serve Notices and Orders to achieve compliance with Planning and Environmental Law.

To address complaints, Compliance Officers are required to allow for timeframes which are set in Law. Therefore some complaints may take up to three months to action, and longer if the matter is taken before the Courts.

It is recommended that you seek independent legal advice if you receive a Notice or an Order, as the penalties for non-compliance can be very high.

The Compliance team is also responsible for the development of community education in respect to environmental and development issues.

For further information concerning unauthorised activities, please contact Liverpool City Council's Customer Contact Centre on 1300 36 2170.
