Floodplain Management Authorities (FMA)

The FMA is the peak body representing Councils, statutory authorities and agencies involved in floodplain management. The FMAs primary objectives are to reduce the impact of flooding and flood liability on private and public property and assets, and to press for optimum financial assistance from the State and Federal Governments.

Georges River Combined Councils Committee (GRCCC) The primary role of the GRCCC is to develop programs and partnerships, to lobby government organisations and other stakeholders in order to protect, conserve and enhance the Georges River, in addition, the Committee coordinates the Riverkeeper Program which helps improve the quality of the Georges River through education and operational projects. Other Councils of this Committee include Bankstown, Rockdale, Hurstville, Wollondilly, Fairfield, Sutherland, Kogarah and Campbelltown.

Joint Regional Planning Panel (JRPP)

The JRPP is a State planning panel that meets on an as on an as required basis to review development applications that have regional significance. The panel is made up of three State appointed representatives and two council representatives.

 

The JRPP’s will be the determining authority for significant commercial, residential, retail development exceeding $10 million in capital value and tourist, crown, council and other community type developments exceeding $5 million.

 

Dependant on the number of development applications referred to the Panel. Timeframes dependant on the number of applications. Two Council representatives and an alternate

Liverpool Migrant Resource Centre (LMRC)  Management Committee The LMRC was set up to provide community development and welfare-related services for Non-English Speaking Background (NESB) people living within the Liverpool local government area. LMRA continues to be funded by the Federal Government through the Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs.

The South West Sydney Academy of Sport The objectives of The South West Sydney Academy of Sport are to provide opportunity and encouragement for talented South West Sydney sports persons to achieve excellence in sport as well as to establish, administer and seek donations to promote excellence among young individuals. The Academy also provides sports science testing, evaluation and research to assist in the pursuit of excellence in sport or in activities related to sport.

Western Sydney Regional Organisation of Councils (WSROC) WSROC was formed in November 1973. The decision-making body of WSROC is the Board, consisting of two voting directors from each member council.

 

WSROC’s mission is: to secure – through research lobbying and fostering of cooperation between councils – a sustainable lifestyle for the people of Western Sydney and the provision of infrastructure such that no one should have to leave the region to have access to the sorts of amenities, services and opportunities others in urban Australia take for granted.
