Eat Your Heart Out Liverpool – a Grand Opening for Macquarie Mall

Liverpool City Council is celebrating the revitalisation of Macquarie Mall with a grand opening on October 28.

Eat Your Heart Out Liverpool is set to attract thousands of people to Liverpool, starting with an afternoon of fun and games for the family at Bigge Park and continuing on into the night with a celebration of food, music and culture.

Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller said Eat Your Heart Out was a celebration of the best that Liverpool had to offer.

“Eat Your Heart Out Liverpool is a grand opening for the newly revamped Macquarie Mall,” Mayor Waller said.

“We are proud of the revitalised city centre, including the upgraded Bigge Bark, and are keen to share the vibrant heart of the city with the rest of Sydney.”

From noon, Bigge Park will transform into family-fun central, with jumping castles, circus skills, giant games and food trucks, not to mention the new touch-to-play water park, which is already proving popular with local families as the weather heats up. Music by local young people will provide ambiance and a relaxed atmosphere.

Just a short stroll away at Macquarie Mall, the action starts at 3pm, with the music program curated by FBi Radio is set to be one of the event’s biggest drawcards. Taking the Macquarie Mall stage will be some of Western Sydney’s most exciting emerging stars and established artists.

But it’s also a chance to show off the diverse range of international food in the heart of our city. Restaurateurs will bring their finest offerings out into the Mall, turning it into a foodie’s paradise through the afternoon and evening.

A lighting installation at the top of Macquarie Mall presented by Soft Centre will add a dynamic, interactive element to Eat Your Heart Out.

A range of art and design stalls will add to the atmosphere and allow festival-goers to browse bespoke offerings from Sydney-based artisans while they listen to the music program curated by FBi Radio.

Taste Cultural Food Tours is also running two ‘entrée’ tours on the day from 11am until 1pm, to showcase some of the other foodie highlights of Liverpool CBD.
