Seniors’ Festival celebrates Diamond Anniversary

3 April 2018

To celebrate this year’s Seniors’ Festival, which runs from 4-15 April 2018, Council is holding a variety of community events around the Liverpool area, including concerts, movies, yoga classes and health workshops.

“The theme of this year’s Seniors’ Festival is ‘Let’s do more together’ and our events are designed to do just that,” said Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller.

“The Seniors’ Festival has now been running in NSW for 60 years – so we are celebrating its Diamond Anniversary.

“In Liverpool nearly one in five people are over the age of 55 and this festival is a way of acknowledging the important role that seniors play in our community.

“The Seniors Concerts at Liverpool Catholic Club on 4 and 5 April are always a big hit and are Council’s way of saying thank you to our older residents.

“If you want to get your hearing tested for free, or find out about breast screening, come down to Macquarie Mall on 4 April.

“If you want to get some advice on healthy brain ageing, we have the Dementia Australia Memory Van coming to Carnes Hill Library on 11 April.

“All are welcome at the information session at Antegra Estate, Leppington, on 10 April which covers a wide range of topics including guardianship, wills, senior safety and home care services.

“Another popular favourite is Grandparents’ Story time at our libraries – bring the whole family along and share the joy of reading.”

All events are free. Full program at www.liverpool.nsw.gov.au/whats-on/events/events/community/liverpool-seniors-festival or call 1300 36 2170.
