Household Chemical CleanOut a major success

The recent free Household Chemical CleanOut day held at Liverpool City Council Operations Centre was a major success, with 132 vehicles attending on the day.

Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller said it was great to see people continuing to take advantage of the opportunity to clean out their storage areas and make their households safer.

“The CleanOut day once more saw people make the most of their chance to remove old and dangerous chemicals from their properties and dispose of them at the Community Recycling Centre,” she said.

“Council runs these days twice a year to help people remove chemicals from their homes, so they don’t place them in their roadside bins for collection with general waste.

“The day was successful with eight tonnes of hazardous chemical diverted from landfill.”

Mayor Waller said the response from participating community members was extremely positive.
