New Year’s Eve celebrations at Chipping Norton Lake have been hailed a big success with more than 10,000 people attending Liverpool’s annual festivities to welcome in 2018.

Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller said she was pleased with the turnout at Light Up the Lake and thanked members of the community for showing a fun family-friendly spirit.

“It was a great atmosphere and the entertainment was of a really high standard,” she said.

“I’d like to thank Lily Guerrero, Gang of Brothers, Abbey Gardner, and Carlos ‘C Major’ for keeping the crowd on their feet.

‘And of course the fireworks display was spectacular as always, showing the lake at its best.”

Mayor Waller said Australia Day at Woodward Park promised to be another great family-friendly event on Friday, January 26 from 2pm-9pm.

“We’ll have live entertainment for children and adults across three stages, amazing food, children's activities, carnival rides and more,” Mayor Waller said.
