Environment Groups 

You can make a real difference to your local environment by becoming involved in one of the following local environment groups:

    Amalfi Park Environment Group  

    Amalfi Park is located in Lurnea and is dominated by the presence of Brickmakers Creek. This Environment Group helps to restore the natural areas within the park by focusing on litter collection, weed removal, creek bank stabilisation and planting. The Amalfi Park Environment Group officially commenced activities under Council’s Environment Volunteer Program in June 2004, however they have been a long-standing environmental group within the community for many years. The group plays a key role in Clean up Australia Day, hosting a site each year, as well as participating in National Tree Day. The Amalfi Park Environment Group won the Environment Group of the Year Award for 2004.

    The group meet on the first Sunday of each month from 10.00am to 12.00pm at Amalfi Park. The park is located along Reilly Street, Lurnea. For more information contact Melissa on 9821 7729 or send an email m.clarke@liverpool.nsw.gov.au

    Clinches Pond Environment Group  

    The Clinches Pond Environment Group undertakes bush regeneration activities around the infamous pond in Moorebank. A variety of wildlife is attracted to this park - the group regularly spot water dragons, black swans, and other species of birds. The group has been maintaining works completed by a Green Reserve team in December 2005, concentrating their efforts in the bushland next to the pond.

    Elouera Bushland Reserve Environment Group 

    This Environment Group undertakes activities regularly across the Elouera Bushland Reserve, which spans 65 hectares. Currently the group are restoring bushland in Ireland Park. Activities include tree planting, weed removal and mulching. The Elouera Environment Group was formed to implement on-ground environmental change in the reserve and to continue the efforts started by the Elouera Bushland Reserve Management Committee.

    harris creek environment group

    The Harris Creek Environment Group commenced in February 2006 and conducts activities within Remount Park following the Creek line. Activities include tree planting, weed removal, litter removal and mulching. The group won the Environment Group of the Year Award for 2007.

    Leacocks Lane Environment Group 

    The Leacocks Lane Environment Group began in August 2005 and conducts activities within Leacocks Lane and Glen Regent Reserve, Casula. The Group plan to eventually meet halfway with the Glen Regent Environment Group so that the two volunteers groups maintain the whole reserve. They complete activities near the playground at the bottom of Leacocks Lane, and are aiming to improve the visual aesthetics of the reserve and bring back some of the native vegetation that previously occurred there. The Leacocks Lane Environment Group won the Environment Group of the Year Award for 2006

    The group meet at the playground at the bottom of Leacocks Lane in Glen Regent Reserve on the third Sunday of the month from 10.00am to 12.00pm. For more information contact Melissa on 9821 7729 or send an email m.clarke@liverpool.nsw.gov.au

    Light Horse Park Environment Group  

    Light Horse Park is a significant recreational space in close proximity to the Liverpool City Centre. Light Horse Park was had bushland restoration works completed on site, which was funded by Council's previous Environmental Levy Program called the "Environment Plan" The Light Horse Park Environment Group carries out on-ground restoration activities, including weeding, planting and litter collection. The group has worked along the bank of the Georges River, restoring locally native vegetation, which will help attract native animals to the area. Currently the group is focusing on a community tree planting area located near the entrance of the park.

    Voyager Point Environment Group 

    The Voyager Point Environment Group (VPEG) conduct restoration activities at the entrance to Voyager Point (corner of Heathcote Road and the Avenue) and also at the footbridge crossing the Georges River. The group focuses on weeding, revegetation, and mulching. The group has been part of Council’s Environment Volunteer Program (EVP) since May 2004 and the group’s enthusiasm continues to grow each year. The Voyager Point Environment Group won the Environment Group of the Year Award for 2005 and a merit award for achievement as a community group from Liverpool’s Volunteer Resource Centre.

    Wattle Grove environment group 

    The Wattle Grove Environment Group conducts activities around Wattle Grove Lake and along Anzac Creek past Delfin Drive. The group helps to keep the area green by picking up litter, removing weeds and planting trees.

    This Environment Group meets on the second Sunday of the month from 10.30am to 12.30pm.  They meet at the lake on Delfin Drive, Wattle Grove. For more information contact Melissa on 9821 7729 or send an email m.clarke@liverpool.nsw.gov.au

    weaving garden environment group

    The Weaving Garden Environment Group commenced in February 2006 and conducts activities within the Weaving Garden, which runs alongside Casula Road. Activities include tree planting, weed removal, litter removal and mulching.

    The Weaving Garden Environment Group is assisting in delivering the "Green Web Regional Corridors- Weaving Garden and Leacock Regional Park" project. This project is an initiative of both the Liverpool City Council (LCC) and Department of Environment, Climate Change and Water (DECCW) and has received funding assistance from the Australian Government's Green Web Program and the Sydney Metropolitan Catchment Authority (SMCMA). The project aims to increase the extent, condition and connectivity of native vegetation (endangered Cumberland Plain Woodland) within the Weaving Garden and adjoining section of Leacock Regional Park.

    This Environment Group meets on the second Saturday of each month from 12.00pm to 2.00pm at the end of Casula Road, opposite the Casula Railway Station car park.  For more information contact Melissa on 9821 7729 or send and email m.clarke@liverpool.nsw.gov.au
