CALLING ALL GREEN THUMBS - 2008 ENTRIES OPEN NOW
With spring just around the corner, Liverpool City Council is inviting garden enthusiasts to show off their talent in the 2008 Garden Competition.
This annual competition includes eight categories: small/medium gardens (includes townhouse/unit); large established gardens; best Australian native garden; commercial or industrial gardens; best educational facility; sustainable/waterwise garden; best street and best vegetable garden.
A range of great prizes are on offer. The Grand Champion will receive a cheque to the value of $1,000 plus a SH85 Blower Vacuum. The Reserve Champion will receive a cheque to the value of $250, plus a HSE61 Electric Hedge Trimmer. First prize winners for each class will receive $150 worth of vouchers, and second prize winners for each class will receive $100 worth of vouchers.
All entrants will receive two free plants and a show bag, plus are eligible for encouragement awards. The judging panel will consist of a member of the Australian Institute of Horticulture.
Winners will be announced at a special presentation ceremony, featuring guest speaker Jason Hodges from Better Homes & Gardens, on Tuesday 28 October at Council’s Administration Centre from 7pm.
