EXPRESSION OF INTEREST - INDEPENDENT MEMBER FOR THE ETHICS & AUDIT COMMITTEE (2008/1170 )
To reflect best practice guidelines, Liverpool City Council’s Ethics and Audit Committee has recently taken steps to further strengthen its governance framework with the inclusion of an independent member.
Council is now providing an opportunity for suitably qualified and independent persons to express interest in their appointment to this important position on the Ethics and Audit Committee.
Liverpool is one of the largest growing local government areas in NSW. Liverpool City Council employs over 600 staff and has an annual budget in excess of $175 million. The Local Government Area covers 305 square kilometres and has a population of 165,000. The organisation has six main groupings of staff to carry out its functions including the General Managers Unit, City Services, Governance and Financial Services, Asset and Infrastructure Delivery, City Planning and City Strategy.
The Ethics and Audit Committee meets quarterly. The purpose of the Committee is to provide an assurance role, from a position independent of management, in respect of Liverpool City Council’s governance arrangements including its risk, control and compliance frameworks. Focus of the Committee is on matters of significance in each area of its responsibilities.
The duration of the appointment of the independent member will be for 2 years. Independent members will be eligible for reappointment.
Remuneration will be paid to the independent members of the Committee. The quantum on the fee is negotiable. Training of Committee members will be provided as appropriate.

Council is seeking an experienced GIS professional to manage the GIS team and support Councils Esri and other GIS related application software systems.
You be responsible for the coordination of support to users, system enhancement requests and vendor software upgrades. You will also be responsible for the coordination of GIS data management, data integrity, data analysis, cartography, map production, design and maintaining of spatial layers and associated databases.

The Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre is a key cultural facility of Liverpool City Council. We are looking for a self-motivated and enthusiastic person to join our innovative team.
Refill aims to assist in the development of career opportunities for young people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds within the suburb of Miller who have fallen through the system.
This position will coordinate, consult and organise with a range of arts and cultural professionals, artists, mentors and community groups to create avenues for the development of the young participant’s job prospects and enhance their life experiences. The Refill Project Coordinator will oversee the production and presentation of music, visual arts and craft and multimedia projects.
You will have relevant tertiary qualifications and/or relevant experience in similar roles. You will have the ability to communicate both orally and in writing with a diverse range of clients, have exceptional organisational skills, have an excellent understanding of the processes of working with young people and the development of commercial products as well as the ability to work as part of a small team, meet deadlines and an understanding of evaluation procedures.
