18 November - Liverpool Regional Museum receives national funding for Collection Heritage Assessment
Liverpool Regional Museum has received a $4000 grant from the National Library of Australia to undertake a ‘Community Heritage- Significance Assessment’, supporting future preservation of the museum’s collection.
 
17 November - Liverpool City Art Prize $10,000 winner announced
The Liverpool City Art Prize winner Garry Foye was awarded $10,000, by Deputy Mayor Tony Hadchiti (Liverpool City), for his new work Valley of Sorrows last Saturday evening at the gala opening event.
 
Liverpool City Council has hosted free Food Safety Seminars for food retailers located in the Liverpool Local Government Area and will host more in December and February of next year.
 
Liverpool City Council will begin rolling out noticeboards and Council information at rural post offices in the areas of Austral, Bringelly, Kemps Creek, Luddenham and West Hoxton.

9 November - Judy Nunn Visits Liverpool City Library
One of Australia’s leading popular novelists Judy Nunn Author of Maralinga will be visiting the Liverpool City Library on Friday, 13 November at 10.30am.
 
9 November - Remembrance Day at Liverpool City Library
Remembrance Day will be commemorated at Liverpool City Library with a special presentation by Brad Manera on Monday 9 November from 9.30am, to honour the courageous members of the armed forces and civilians in times of war.
 
9 November - Council calls on residents to monitor Green Waste disposal
Council is asking residents to be mindful when disposing rubbish in the garden waste bin (green lid) to ensure only grass clippings, twigs, small branches, prunings and leaves are placed in the bin.

13 local residents and four community organisations were given well-earned recognition at the Bicentenary Order of Liverpool Awards for their various contributions to the local community on Saturday 7 November 2009.

In an effort to address car parking demands within the Liverpool CBD, Council at its meeting last night resolved to place on public exhibition the draft Liverpool CBD Car Parking Strategy and invites residents to provide their feedback.

30 October - Bankstown Airport Proposed Australian Noise Exposure Forecast (ANEF) Changes
The Preliminary Draft Bankstown Airport Masterplan proposes a change in the 20 and 25 Australian Noise Exposure Forecast (ANEF) noise contours at Chipping Norton. This means that additional properties will now be affected by aircraft noise, due to a number of forecasts that have been taken into consideration.

29 October - Liverpool City Council joins group of 12 to trial new online planning
The Mayor of Liverpool City today confirmed that Liverpool City Council was successful in its application to become one of only 12 Role Model Councils in NSW to trial a new planning program: the ‘Electronic Housing Code Pilot’.

21 October - Painting the way to a mural city - Miller Street Art Gallery
A Liverpool City Council and Community 2168 initiative to enhance the visual appeal and community pride of South Western Sydney’s Miller precinct will see for the first time in New South Wales a street art gallery consisting of 17 large scale murals developed in Miller Square and surrounds.
 
21 October - Third round of Environment Restoration works to benefit Liverpool’s Natural Environment
Liverpool City Council is continuing to improve the local natural environment, with the announcement of 11 new sites for bush regeneration works under Council’s Environment Restoration Plan.
 
20 October - Council receives $360k for Liverpool City’s Cycling infrastructure
Liverpool City Council will benefit with more than $360k received from the Rudd Labor Government's $40 million investment in cycling infrastructure, a key element of the Economic Stimulus Plan.
 
13 October - Twisted Sounds Trick or Treat youth music festival in Halloween attire
Twisted Sounds, Trick or Treat for 2009 continues to rock Liverpool City, with exciting bands and darkwave Halloween dresscode. The youth music festival will take place on Saturday 31 October from 3pm-10:15pm at the Liverpool PCYC, Cartwright Avenue in Miller.
 
12 October - Sonya Hartnett’s Thursday’s Child is adapted for theatre at Casula Powerhouse
Casula Powerhouse Theatre hosts Thursday’s Child; the world premiere stage adaptation of a classic, award-winning Australian novel by Sonya Hartnett.
 
12 October - More than 100 Council staff and the Management Team assisted in the ‘Keep Liverpool Clean’ day success.
On Wednesday, 7 October, the City Services Outdoor crews conducted a ‘Keep Liverpool Clean’ day which involved more than 100 Council staff.
Liverpool City Council’s General Manager, Phil Tolhurst and the Management Team surrendered their executive gear to help out on the day.
 
2 October - Celebrate Children’s Week 2009 - Liverpool Children’s Festival
Macquarie Mall will beam with excitement on Saturday, 31 October 2009 from 10am-2pm for the Liverpool Children’s Festival to celebrate the rights of children to enjoy childhood. The Festival will be held as part of Children’s Week, which is an annual event celebrated in Australia during the fourth week of October.

30 September - Council pounds the pavements during Walk to Work Day
Council in support of the national Walk to Work Day on Friday 2 October 2009, is encouraging its staff to be involved and get healthy by participating in one of two 45 minute walking sessions that have been organised on the day.
 
28 September - The ‘King of Liverpool’ at the Regional Museum
Liverpool Regional Museum is proud to present the King of Liverpool exhibition based on Thomas Moore. Established as one of the largest landowners and meat producers in the colony, and was appointed a Magistrate by the founder of Liverpool Governor Lachlan Macquarie, in 1810 until he passed away in 1840.
 
25 September - Council supports Sustainable Schools Conference
Liverpool City Council will help local school students explore ways of making their schools more sustainable at a Regional Primary Students’ Sustainable Schools Conference, hosted by All Saints Catholic Primary School on Monday 28 September 2009.
 
25 September - Lancaster Park Opening, Parkbridge, Middleton Grange - South West Sydney’s newest community
On Friday, 18 September Kristina Keneally, the Minister for Planning officially dedicated Parkbridge’s Lancaster Park to the new community of South Western Sydney. Parkbridge residential estate is situated within the emerging suburb of Middleton Grange.

23 September - Jacquie Osmond Reserve – Tree Planting Day free BBQ for all participants

Sydney Theatre Company’s The Wharf Review opens at Casula Powerhouse ahead of the Sydney season, on Friday 9 and Saturday, 10 October 2009 at 8pm.
 
Improvements and upgrades to Liverpool’s CBD stormwater drainage system are nearing completion. This $6 million project will significantly increase pipe system capacities, and is expected to alleviate flooding within the CBD.
 
16 September - The 47th Sydney Model Railway Exhibition - Thomas the Tank Engine ride for the kids

Liverpool City Council is keen to raise awareness about key sustainability issues and will be hosting a FREE Sustainability Blitz Workshop focusing on Native Gardens and Attracting Wildlife for the local community to enjoy.

Following National Tree day, Liverpool City Council has initiated further Community Tree Planting activities, which will occur throughout September. Environmental Restoration is an important way to look after our neighbourhood, by planting new trees we maintain the Environment.
 
10 September - Council providing care for the youngest members of the community
Quality and affordable childcare is essential for many families in the Liverpool community. To assist with this community need, Liverpool Council currently operates six long day care centres and one occasional care centre within the Liverpool Local Government Area.
 
10 September - Local members of the NSW Rural Fire Service recognised for bravery
Liverpool City Mayor Wendy Waller presented certificates of recognition to volunteers and fire fighters from the NSW Rural Fire Service, for their courageous efforts and response to Victoria’s Black Saturday bushfires, which took place in February 2009.

The Georges River Combined Council’s Committee (GRCCC) has recently received $210,000 of Federal Government funding to conduct a catchment wide River Health monitoring program to determine the health of the Georges River.

The Fridge Buyback Program results for 2008-2009 show how this program continues to reduce the impact on the environment save energy and benefit the residents.
 
1 September - See Kurdish and Iranian Films at Casula Powerhouse
Casula Powerhouse presents two short film festivals, produced by Cinewest, this September. On Friday 25 September, two film screenings which include: 12th International Film Festival for Children and Young Adults (also known as the Auburn International Film Festival), 1-3pm and The First and the Last Experimental International Film Festival 2002-2022, 8pm.
 
1 September - Liverpool Youth Council Annual Report
In May 1999 Council endorsed a Youth Strategy that included the establishment of the Liverpool Youth Council (LYC). The Liverpool Youth Annual Report for 2009 has been released, which highlights many achievements over the past 12 months.

13 August - Get the details behind Australia’s documented crime stories during History Week at Liverpool City Library
Liverpool City Library will host Crime Files with well-known guest speaker Paul B. Kidd, presenting famous tales of Australian crimes, as part of Liverpool’s History Week celebrations on Wednesday 9 September from 9.30am-12midday.
 
10 August - Community organisations to benefit from CDSE funding
A funding contribution of $596,139 from local clubs through the Community
Development Support Expenditure (CDSE) will greatly benefit local community
organisations.
 
4 August - Council offers subsidised dog training-six week animal education program
Council will be trialling dog training classes, to be held at, Whitlam Park on Green Valley Road, commencing 15 August 2009. Each 30 minute class will run over a six week period and cover basic obedience for puppies and dogs of various ages.
 
Liverpool City Council is calling for applications from individuals residing in the Liverpool Local Government Area who wish to apply for a youth donation. Applications must be submitted to Council by 5pm on Wednesday 19 August 2009.
 
3 August - Create a sustainable environment in your own backyard
Liverpool City Council is encouraging residents to help create sustainable environments at home, by hosting a free Worm Farming and Composting Workshop on Saturday 22 August, from 10am-12noon at the Light Horse Community Gardens, Light Horse Park, end of Riverpark Drive, Liverpool.

It’s time for serious athletes in Western Sydney to gear up for the 2009 ‘Westlink M7 Cities Marathon’ on Sunday, July 26, 2009. This year marks the fourth time the Westlink M7 Cities Marathon has been held and it will incorporate two events.
 
The Liverpool City Art Prize is returning to the Casula Powerhouse in 2009 with an acquisitive open themed prize of $10,000, to inspire, support and foster artistic talent across the country.
 
16 July - Casula Powerhouse presents The Fastest Boy in the World
Casula Powerhouse proudly presents The Fastest Boy in the World on Saturday 8
August 2009. The show follows the story of Henry Horatio and his quest to become
the world’s fastest child. The production is by Patch Theatre Company, one of
Australia’s leading professional theatre companies specialising in theatre for young
people. The Fastest Boy in the World is currently touring nationally.
 
In its continued efforts to promote a healthy lifestyle and help reduce carbon footprints, Liverpool City Council is proposing to create new bicycle pathways to enhance accessibility to key locations within the City; these will connect to existing tracks.
 
14 July - A Sense of Place by Artist Danny Huynh
Casula Powerhouse, a cultural facility of Liverpool City Council, is proud to host A Sense of Place, an exhibition featuring the new work by highly acclaimed local artist Danny Huynh from Saturday 25 July until Sunday 11 October 2009.
 
9 July - State Government approves Special Rate Variation
The State Government approved Liverpool City Council’s request for a special
rate variation of 9 per cent, ensuring key capital works outlined in Council’s
adopted 2009-2010 Management Plan will go ahead.
 
6 July - See local high school talent at Refill Exhibition!
Casula Powerhouse is offering the Liverpool community an opportunity to
view Refill a free exhibition created by local high school students that will
launch on Saturday 25 July at 2 pm.
 
With Spring not far off, local garden enthusiasts are being given the opportunity to show off their green thumb talent in Liverpool City Council’s annual garden competition.

The Liverpool Refugee Week Awards Ceremony was held as part of Refugee Week celebrations today in Macquarie Street Mall, recognising the achievements and contributions that refugees have made within the community.

17 June - NAIDOC Week 'Honouring Our Elders - Nurturing Our Youth
Street March from Augusta Cullen Park through to Macquarie Mall from 9.30am for a flag raising ceremony. Family Day event at Whitlam Leisure Centre from 11am-2.30pm featuring clowns, amusement stalls and entertainment from the Donovan family.
17 June - River of Resistance Exhibition can now be viewed
Koori Stories from the Georges River exhibition at Liverpool Regional Museum, Hume Highway, Liverpool.
The free exhibition features many stories that make up the long and exciting history of Aboriginal people along the Georges River.

10 June - Art Exhibition Manoeuvre Meet Local Artists Painting and Performing
Casula Powerhouse, the cultural facility of Liverpool City Council, is offering an art exhibition and interactive daytime performance. The exhibition is free and begins at 12 noon with all welcomed to attend.
 
10 June - Mil-Pra Exhibition and Art Awards
The 17th Annual Mil-Pra Aboriginal Exhibition and Art Awards will launch with a competition open to all Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander people living in NSW & ACT. The theme "Elders Knowing" will influence the artists to submit artwork that honours the Indigenous elders and their teachings.
 
The popular art exhibition will showcase artwork inspired by vibrant influences of the Asia Pacific Region. Each artist will interpret the theme in their own unique way using an array of media including painting, drawing, sculpture and photography.
 
4 June - Refugee Week to Celebrate Multicultural Awareness
Inviting the community to unite through multicultural awareness, a number of events will be held to support Refugee Week. A free theatre performance (20 June 6-9pm) and street festival (19th June 10-2pm) will take place in Liverpool. 

1 June - Liverpool City Council's Casula Powerhouse presents Anh Do Sydney's comedian of the year
Anh Do will present a live comedy night full of laughter and hilarity. Many people recognise Anh Do from TV shows 'Dancing with the Stars', 'Thank God Your Here' and the 'NRL Footy Show'. Anh Do is a world class performer whose humour will delight the whole family.

Federal Government Funding of $1.25 million will see a variety of infrastructure projects be completed including upgrade works to Council’s Community Centres and the installation of security lighting around the Liverpool Local Government Area.
 
The Department of Planning has recently approved a major development in Warwick Farm which will inevitably bring economic and social benefits for Liverpool City, attracting an estimated total capital investment value of $139 million.

Liverpool City Council’s new waste collection service commences on 29 June and residents in single unit, multi-unit dwellings and villas will be next to receive their new garbage and recycling bins.

7 April - Council Seeks Rates Variation
Liverpool City Council at its Council Meeting on Monday 6 April passed a resolution to seek an application for a special variation to notional income. This variation if approved, will allow Council to address infrastructure requirements and maintain service standards that cannot be provided with current revenue.

11 February - Costly accreditation scheme should be dropped
Liverpool City Council has voiced concerns about a proposed new scheme that will see council building surveyors individually accredited in a similar way to certifiers in the private sector.
 
Liverpool community-based organisations are invited to apply for funding under the 2009 Community Development Support Expenditure (CDSE) scheme. Applications open on Monday 2 March and will close on Friday 27 March 2009.
 
Reconstruction works on Adams Road are expected to be completed in early May. Council identified the upgrading of Adams Road in its 2008-09 Management Plan and allocated $1.2 million towards the full reconstruction of the remaining 2km section between Elizabeth Drive and The Northern Road in Luddenham.
 
A $6 million Council project to upgrade Liverpool’s CBD stormwater drainage system is underway and is expected to be completed by June 2009.
 
Twenty four volunteers from the Casula Rural Fire Service Association have been dispatched to Victoria during this past weekend to assist in putting out ferocious fires that have claimed the lives of more than one hundred victims and have left thousands homeless.
 

Liverpool City Council is holding a free Chemical Clean Out Day, providing residents with a safe option of disposing chemicals that may be cluttering their household. The Chemical Clean Out will be held on Sunday 22 February 2009 from 9am-3.30pm at the Liverpool City Council Administration Building car park.
