pay and display parking

Liverpool’s population is rapidly increasing and more people are visiting the City Centre resulting in an increased demand for street parking.

Council is committed to easing the car parking pressures in the City Centre for residents and the Liverpool CBD Parking Strategy details short, medium and long term plans to ensure the longevity of parking in Liverpool’s City.

As part of this strategy, Council has introduced free, all day parking areas on the fringe of the City Centre (Collimore car park), a free shuttle service to and from this car park, improvement works to the Northumberland Street car park and is now introducing some ‘pay and display’ parking around the busiest areas of the City.

This will increase the turn over of spaces in the City Centre by discouraging all day parkers who monopolise street parking and those who ignore the time limits.

Council will use all the funds received by parking meters to make parking and traffic improvements in the CBD until at least 2016.

The meters cost $1 per 30 minutes of parking and will operate from 8am – 6pm, from Monday to Friday and 8.30am – 12.30pm on Saturdays.

PARK AND RIDE

In addition, Council is now offering a free shuttle bus from Collimore car park to the corner of George and Moore Streets in the morning and a return bus in the afternoon for those using Council’s free all day car park. Patrons are asked to assemble at the bus zone near Collimore Park in the morning and George Street (near Black Rose Cafe) in the afternoon.

As part of the overall car parking plan for the City, meters will be installed in the coming months and Council will have a familiarisation period to ensure that residents are familiar with the operation of the meters.

Pay and Display parking meters will be located in the area bounded by Scott St, Bigge St, Moore St, College St, Campbell St, George St, Elizabeth St, Bathurst St, Memorial Ave.

Council will continue to enforce compliance with parking restrictions as well as meter payment to ensure that parking availability is enhanced and road safety is maintained.
