Council has produced the Disability Action Plan as a significant step towards meeting its obligations to people with a disability, under the Commonwealth Disability Discrimination Act, 1992 and provisions of the NSW Local Government Act, 1993.

The Disability Action Plan was endorsed by Council on 23 February 2004 and publicly launched on 14 April 2004.

The Plan incorporates Council's commitment to improving access through the delivery of information, services and facilities to the community.  The adopted Disability Action Plan includes an annual review that includes:

  • Relevance and usefulness of the DAP as perceived by internal and external stakeholders through consultation
  • Continuing public awareness raising and promotion of DAP outcomes met by Council
  • Annual report to be provided to Council.

The summary report describes progress on key actions by incorporating a 'whole of Council' approach and committing both time and resources to the implementation of the Disability Action Plan.  Through a commitment from all responsible Units, Council will continue to meet its obligations.
