Alcohol-free zones

INSTALLED 50 ADDITIONAL ALCOHOL-FREE ZONE SIGNS

Council currently has a broad scope of alcohol-free zones which are located at various locations in Liverpool’s City Centre and throughout the Local Government Area.

These zones assist to alleviate the incidents of alcohol related crime as they provide Police with the power to confiscate and dispose of alcohol from any person without warning to those found in possession of alcohol.

Council has recently installed 50 additional alcohol-free zone signs within the CBD located at Scott, Macquarie, George and Northumberland Streets which will enhance the awareness of the delegated alcohol free-zones.

Council implemented the additional signs to assist Police with their enforcement measures by boosting the local awareness of these identified alcohol free locations.

It is an offence to possess or drink alcohol on any street or footpath where an alcohol-free zone exists, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

For more information on these designated alcohol-free zones please visit www.liverpool.nsw.gov.au or phone 1300 36 2170.
