Cats
A nuisance cat is one that:
- Makes a noise that persistently occurs or continues to such a degree or extent that it unreasonably interferes with the peace, comfort or convenience of any person in any other premises
- Repeatedly damages anything outside the property on which it is ordinarily kept (Companion Animal Act, 1998 - Sec 31).
Stray feral cats pose a real problem to the environment and community at large. This occurs through predation on native species of wildlife, damage to property, involvement in attacks on domesticated animals, in some cases on humans, and unchecked breeding.
Tips to follow regarding controlling stray feral cats:
- Do not feed them as this encourages dependency
- Report any known stray cat activity to the following organisations who can offer advice:
- Cat Protection Society - 9519 7201
- Animal Welfare League - 8899 3333
- Liverpool City Council Customer Service Centre - 1300 36 2170.
