Pet Registration and Microchipping

Please click on the following highlighted links for more information:

Cat and dog owners in NSW are legally required to microchip and register their pets. Kittens and puppies must be microchipped before they are 12 weeks old or before being sold or given away. They must then be registered before they are 6 months old.

Microchipping allows Council to contact you if your pet goes missing, is taken to a vet, pound or animal shelter.

Your Vet or authorised identifier will implant the microchip for you. Please note the cost of this service may vary however Councils pound offers microchipping.

Your vet or authorised identifier will then enter your pets details on Pet Registry Logo. You will need to create an online profile at in order to claim your pet as a member of your family. This will allow you to make changes to your pets information such as its name, update your personal information if you move or change phone numbers and even transfer ownership if you give your pet away. If you don’t know your pets microchip information, or you need help accessing the Pet Registry Logo website contact Council on 1300 362 170 or visit us at 33 Moore Street, Liverpool.

All cats and dogs over 12 weeks old must also wear an identification tag attached to their collar that is engraved with their name and their owner’s contact number.

A one-off fee applies for pet registration.

To register your pet, bring your pet’s identification certificate and any other relevant documents to Council's Customer Service Centre, 33 Moore St LIVERPOOL or email your documentation to and one of our friendly staff will contact you for credit card details, enabling you to make payment over the phone.

Please note payments cannot be excepted unless all relevant paperwork has been submitted to Council.

Alternatively, you can now also pay online once you have created your online profile at
