Community groups are invited to participate in Council's Discovery Tour Program. The program involves information sessions and tours of Liverpool for newly arrived migrant and refugee communities.
These discovery tours provide a bus tour to the Council Chambers where ethnic community groups receive information on various Council services such as Council's role, library services, community facilities, recreation, children's services, waste and recycling, and other information relevant to their needs. The tours continue with visits to local community facilities such as childcare centres, libraries and the Liverpool Regional Museum and culminate with a picnic lunch at Chipping Norton Lakes. All groups receive a showbag filled with useful information in different languages.
Discovery tours have allowed newly arrived migrants and refugees to get to know their local Council and gain confidence to access important services. They are a successful way of providing information and developing relationships between Liverpool City Council and ethnic community groups in the local area.
Discovery tours are free of charge and are planned according to each group's needs and interests.
If you have a group that is interested in participating in the Discovery Tour Program, contact Galavizh Ahmadinia, Community Development Worker (CALD) on 9821 7779 or g.ahmadinia@liverpool.nsw.gov.au.
