Getting to and around Liverpool City 

ROAD  

Sydney’s developing transport infrastructure clearly favours Liverpool City above all other cities in Greater Western Sydney.

It is also the only regional centre on the Westlink M7, which significantly reduces travel time to the west and north of Sydney.

The M5 links Liverpool City directly to Australia’s largest global gateways. The off peak journey to the airport is just 20 minutes and central Sydney is only 25-30 minutes away.

To the south, the Hume Highway links Sydney to Canberra and Melbourne and traffic heading north to central Sydney.

To the north, the Cumberland Highway, which runs to Parramatta and beyond to the Sydney-Newcastle Freeway, also links the city to the M4 and the Great Western Highway, providing a gateway to the Blue Mountains and western NSW.

TRAIN  

Liverpool Railway Station is used by an average 22,000 commuters daily, making it one of the busiest stations on the Sydney railway network, CityRail.

Liverpool has the benefit of six CityRail lines passing through the area, making it easy for residents to travel out of Liverpool and people to travel into Liverpool by public transport.

BUSES  

Liverpool City boasts one of Sydney’s first rapid bus transit-way ("T-way") systems. The Liverpool to Parramatta bus transit-way is a dedicated 20km bus transport route linking the two major centres via the industrial areas of Wetherill Park and Smithfield.

Arts, Culture and Heritage 

The Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre is a cultural symbol of western Sydney, offering an exciting and constantly changing program of exhibitions, events and cultural services.

Discover historic Liverpool at the Liverpool Regional Museum. The museum has a permanent exhibition, Liverpool Stories, which depicts Liverpool in the 19th century plus a changing exhibition program.

Further explore Liverpool’s history at Liverpool City Library’s Heritage Library. The library holds thousands of photographs, a comprehensive newspaper collection from colonial times up to today, Council archives, oral histories, maps and plans, and various publications and reports relevant to the City.

The Heritage Liverpool holds one of the most outstanding family history collections in Sydney, with volunteers from the Liverpool Genealogy Society available at set times to assist members of the public with family history research.

Collingwood is Liverpool’s oldest building and the fifth oldest residence in Australia. The long history of the house is reflected throughout its rooms, which are furnished in 1850s style.

Get active at the Whitlam Leisure Centre with its indoor and outdoor aquatic facilities, gym and 3,000-seat stadium or visit the Michael Wenden Aquatic and Recreation Centre, which is perfect for participating in competitive sport or just having fun. The 50-metre outdoor pool is heated, plus the centre offers a child minding service and kindy gym.

Warwick Farm Racecourse, renowned for its picnic atmosphere, features first-class dining, plus betting facilities and outdoor dining areas. Attend the Liverpool City Cup in March or one of the many other race meetings.

The Australian Koi Farm at Bringelly, the largest koi breeding and display facility in the southern hemisphere, the farm is a leading tourist attraction with over 25,000 fish on display.

Liverpool City Council has over 50 playing fields for a range of sports including soccer, cricket, netball, hockey, rugby, baseball, athletics and tennis. These fields are available for private hire and casual use for the community and local clubs.

Enjoy a relaxing day of golf at either the New Brighton Golf Club or RAE Golf Club, or practise your technique at the Tree Valley Golf Course and Practice Range.

For shooting enthusiasts, the Sydney International Shooting Centre at Cecil Park boasts a 10m indoor range, three partial indoor ranges and more than 10 outdoor ranges catering to the professional athlete or club enthusiast.

Liverpool City is also home to two of the Sydney regions most significant rivers - the Georges River and Hawkesbury-Nepean River. Both rivers offer numerous locations to take in the relaxing vistas.

Chipping Norton Lakes Located along the Georges River at Homestead Drive. The Georges River has created many interesting venues as it winds through our city. It opens into Moore Lake and the Chipping Norton Lakes.
