Council Trials Public Place Recycling Bins

recycle right - use the right bin!

Liverpool City Council is trialling public place recycling bin systems in Liverpool City to determine community waste disposal behaviour and encourage recycling in public places.

The new recycling bins have been placed at Macquarie Street Mall in Liverpool’s Central Business District (CBD) and Black Muscat Park in Chipping Norton.

Council’s Public Place Recycling Trial will assist in:

  • Reducing waste sent to landfill through the provision of recycling facilities in selected public locations.

  • Encouraging best waste management practices among community members.

  • Increasing awareness and knowledge of waste disposal methods.

Audits of the new recycling bin systems have been occurring every month since February and will continue until the end of the year. The data collected from the trial will help to measure the potential and actual effectiveness of waste management systems and identify opportunities for system improvements.
