Liverpool City Council hosted the Heroes of Liverpool Awards at Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre last night. These special awards recognise outstanding members of our community; people who have gone above and beyond their day-to-day work to improve the lives of others.

Awardees were recognised for Medal of the Order of Australia, Australia Olympic coach,  Prime Minister’s Prize  for excellent in teaching and GoWest, Gold Medal from the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists, Mark Killingback Prize, Finalist for the 2016 NSW Young Woman of the Year, NSW RSL Merit Certificate and Gold Badge and Australian Police Medal and Little Heroes Award

Civic Reception to Welcome Fijian Prime Minister

A Civic reception was held in September 2016 to welcome the Fijian Prime Minister, the Honourable Frank Bainimarama, to Liverpool.  Liverpool has a large and vibrant Fijian population and the Fijian Prime Minister was welcomed as part of his visit to celebrate Fijian Independence Day.

Civic Reception for Gold Medal Modern Pentathlon Winner Rio Olympic Games

A Civic Reception for Liverpool’s Olympic heroes was held at Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre on 8 September 2016. Liverpool Mayor Ned Mannoun presented Olympic Gold Medal winner Chloe Esposito with a special plaque to honour her achievements in the Modern pentathlon. The NSW Minister for Trade, Tourism, and Sport, Stuart Ayres MP, also praised Chloe for her remarkable achievements.
