Liverpool City Council is a proud supporter of Harmony Week, a nationwide initiative to celebrate the success of multiculturalism in Australia and how we can all work to maintain it.
It is celebrated during the week (Monday to Sunday) that includes 21 March, which is the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.
Inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone regardless of cultural or linguistic background are the principles that define this important week in the nation's calendar.
Lighting up the Mall
Throughout the week, Macquarie Mall will be lit up orange, the official colour of Harmony Week, which traditionally signifies social communication and meaningful conversations. Orange is also associated with freedom of ideas and encouragement of mutual respect.
Cultural performances are coming to Macquarie Mall throughout Harmony Week.
Enjoy your lunch while being serenaded with sounds in Arabic, Spanish, Balkan languages and Vietnamese.
