Motherland African Festival to excite Liverpool

Welcome to the vibrant and colourful world of the Motherland African Festival right here in in Liverpool’s CBD.

It’s your chance to experience the mystery and excitement of the African continent where music, dance, food, and timeless customs come together in a joyous display of community and heritage.

The Motherland African Festival blends the unique history and story-telling of Africa’s compelling cultures played out before a backdrop of stunning music from a dozen or more countries.

The entertainment program and food choices are as diverse and spectacular as Africa itself.

Come and be dazzled by the dance and drumming spectacle of global performer Lucky Lartey and a showcase of African clothing textiles by Fabrics of Multicultural Australia (FOMA) featuring Kis-Simba Brand’s newest designs in the fascinating African Runway segment.

The music, costumes, and performances reflect the entertainment and creativity of Africa, its performers and history.

Your taste buds will quiver with the delight tasting food from more than a dozen different countries including Sudan, Sierra Leone, Morocco, Mauritius, Egypt, and Zimbabwe offering chicken, lamb and beef in any number of recipes from curries to finger food.

There is something for all ages at the Motherland African Festival.

You can experience the delights of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco stall or immerse yourself in the aerobic Afro Steps super fun workout at Yatimba.

There’s also an African Drumming and Dance Workshop; Sweetstylez Hair Braiding, an Art and Paint Workshop by Emmanuel Asante and Traditional Ethiopian Dancers.

Come join us on our journey through the vibrant colours, pulsating rhythms, and mouth-watering flavours of Africa in Macquarie Mall from Friday 19 May to Sunday 21 May.

Let's celebrate together as we lift the curtain on the vibrant heritage of Africa and the many cultures that have captured public imagination for decades.
