Yell ‘WOW’ as Liverpool gets set to deliver festival vibes to the September school holidays

These school holidays, Liverpool City Council will deliver its epic seven-day WOW Festival of music, food trucks, and more, from 24-30 September 2022.

"Think of it as Liverpool's very own version of Coachella, but for kids!" Mayor Ned Mannoun said. "We can't wait to bring a world of festival fun right in the heart of South West Sydney at Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre to keep your little ones busy and happy these school holidays.

"It begins with a bang across two huge days on 24 and 25 September. And there’s something for everyone the entire seven days with entertainment, food trucks and loads of free activities.

"I’m yelling WOW. My kids are yelling WOW – and yours will too.”

Making its return from a two-year hiatus after the pandemic, the WOW Festival is funded by the NSW Department of Planning and Environment’s RISE grant, as part of the Festival of Place, and will feature free workshops, art play, disco dancing, shadow puppetry, storytelling, performances and more.

The future generation of Liverpool residents will also take centre stage with the Youth Makers Markets on the opening weekend - where kids and teens aged 4-18 will run their own stalls and take home their profits - and through the WOW Reporter Program, as local kids aged 8-12 experience the field of journalism by covering the WOW Festival in their own unique way.

Performers include Dr Hubbles Bubbles, Bunny Racket, Mada's Marvels, Mada's Magic Workshop, Splash Test Dummies, Lah-Lahs and The Beanies. Local heroes STREET UNIVERSITY will finish off the WOW week with a breakdancing workshop to get everyone off their devices and hitting the dancefloor.

“The WOW Festival provides the perfect opportunity to get your young ones away from the screens and take part in activities that are not only fun but educational as well and provide them unknowingly with skills that they will use for life – what more could a parent ask for,” concluded Mayor Mannoun.
