Your Responsibilities

If you find a dog wandering in your neighborhood, check if it has a collar and ID tag so you can contact the owner. If you pick up a stray dog it is your responsibility to either return it to it’s owner, hand the pet in to a local vet clinic or the Liverpool Animal Shelter, or phone Council’s Customer Service Centre on 1300 36 2170 to organise to have an Officer collect the dog from you.

Council Responsibilities

If Council Officers collect a stray dog, all efforts will be made to contact the microchipped owner and return the dog home.

If the dog is not microchipped or an owner cannot be reached, it will be taken to the Liverpool Animal Shelter. To view all lost dogs currently at the Liverpool Animal Shelter, click here.
