Microchipping & Registration

Did you know that Liverpool City Council offers its residents FREE microchipping for dogs and cats. Contact Council’s Customer Service Centre on phone 1300 36 2170 for more information.

Permanent Identification (microchipping) of dogs and cats can occur from 12 weeks of age and is not only required by law, but is vital in ensuring your pet can be returned back to you if they ever go missing.

Important: Don’t forget to update your pet’s microchip within 14 days if your phone number or address changes! You can do this by contacting Council or visiting the NSW Pet Registry.

By law, all cats and dogs must be registered by six months of age.

A one-off fee applies for your pet’s registration - click here to view lifetime registration pricing information.

You can register your pet online on the NSW Pet Registry – click here for a step-by-step guide.

You can also register your pet by bringing their permanent identification paperwork and other relevant documents to Council’s Customer Service or email your documents and and we will contact you for over the phone payment.

Please note payments cannot be accepted unless all relevant paperwork has been submitted to Council.
