Planning exciting Open Spaces for our Austral Community

We want to share some exciting news! Liverpool City Council is undertaking the open space planning and design of existing and new parks in Austral. It is our opportunity to create fantastic spaces for our community to play, share and come together.

Proposed Map

We are designing the Landscape Master Plan for two of our most loved parks in Austral. Scott Memorial Park and Craik Park. Our vision is to plan exciting and versatile spaces that can support the growth of our community providing multifunctional open spaces that will be loved for generations to come.

The work includes the long-term vision and design for both parks and the concept design of their play spaces.

Continue scrolling to explore the early stages of the design. Head to the Have Your Say section to discover how you can help shape these spaces.

The consultation starts on the 7 October and will finish on 23 October 2023. If you would like to provide feedback outside this timeframe, please write us a submission to communityplanning@liverpool.nsw.gov.au

WV Scott Memorial Park

Where is the project taking place?

WV Scott Memorial Park is an established park located at the corner of Edmondson Avenue and Bringelly Road. It is currently home to the Austral SC and the Fairfield Liverpool Cricket Association, a place where many community groups meet, and families use.

We want to hear all your exciting ideas for this place and what you think we are overlooking.

The above map shows the location of the park within its context.

What is a proposed?

As a result of the recently acquired north-western property consolidating the site. And due to its designation as the future location for the Austral Aquatic and Leisure Centre as proposed in the NSW Indicative Layout Plan. This site allows for so many opportunities. We are planning a two-stage Master Plan to support our existing and future community.

The short-term master plan will include the upgrade of the Children’s Playground to an all-inclusive play space to suit all ages and abilities. The playground will be delivered in stages, with stage 1 construction scheduled in 2024. The plan also includes temporary assets to increase the capacity of the existing sports clubs and the addition of a multi-sport court.

The long-term master plans include the new Aquatic Centre and Indoor sports facilities.
