Taste the many flavours of Asia with Liverpool’s Lanterns and Lights Festival

The delights and timeless appeal of Asia will light up Macquarie Mall this month when the Lanterns and Lights festival brings the culture, traditions and food to Liverpool.

The three-day festival from February 16-18 promises an exciting and colourful start to Liverpool’s calendar of celebrations for 2024.

The Lantern and Lights night market will feature food, dancing, culture and performers and food from Korea, Vietnam, The Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, China, Hong Kong and more.

There will be Lion dances, roving entertainers, traditional dance troupes and a display by Australia’s Red Maple Leaves of Chinese dance.

There will also be contemporary music and performers under the direction of well-known DJs.

Supporting the dazzling entertainment is a vast array of the best and most appetising Asian food imaginable to ensure every palate is pleased.

Visitors be able to get a taste of their distinctive retro electric vibes, sip on a cocktail and savour those quintessential smoky Korean BBQ flavours.

Liverpool mayor Ned Mannoun said Lanterns and Lights promised to be one of the most exciting festivals ever staged in the mall.

“It’s got something for everyone,” he said.

“There’s great food, cultural dancing, contemporary music and Lion dances. It will be a great three days.

“Close your eyes and absorb the sights, the sound and the atmosphere and you’ll swear you’re in Asia.”

“Liverpool will be a gateway to experience the world, with a rich event calendar that includes Most Blessed Nights, a European Night Market and Starry Sari Nights.”

Lanterns and Lights is proudly supported by our Experience the World Partner Liverpool Plaza.
