Major Projects

Liverpool is Sydney’s third CBD and is one of the largest local government areas in metropolitan Sydney. Home to Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport, the Western Sydney Aerotropolis and Liverpool Innovation Precinct, Liverpool is a city of opportunity.

Here you'll find a number of major projects being led by Council and other levels of government to reshape the Liverpool LGA, supporting population and economic growth.

Numerous Council-led initiatives focus on supporting the revitalisation of the Liverpool city centre and immediate surrounds, with the rezoning of 25 hectares in the Liverpool core in 2018 to mixed-use zoning serving as the catalyst for allowing a modern, vibrant, 18-hour economy to flourish.

Sydney's Third CBD
The rezoning of 25 hectares in the heart of Liverpool will reinvigorate the CBD and allow the construction of multi-purpose buildings that could include cafes, bars and restaurants, retail, child care, office space and residential uses.
Liverpool Civic Place
Council’s proposed mixed-use Liverpool Civic Place development will anchor and activate the southern end of Liverpool CBD, providing new public spaces, community facilities and job opportunities for our growing city.
Liverpool City Centre Public Domain Master Plan
The Liverpool City Centre Public Domain Master Plan is Council’s 10-year vision to guide the development of public space and pave the way to a greener, more vibrant and active city centre while fostering an 18-hour economy.

The blueprint for land use at the Western Sydney Aerotropolis has been released by the NSW Government and is open for public comment until Friday 28 February 2020.
Western Sydney City Deal
The City Deal is a 20 year agreement between the three levels of government to deliver a once-in-a-generation transformation of Sydney’s outer west including Liverpool.
Moorebank Intermodal Precinct
Moorebank Intermodal Company (MIC) is a wholly owned Australian Government entity established to facilitate the development of an intermodal terminal at Moorebank, a nationally significant infrastructure project that will help Sydney manage the expected growth in freight moving through the city.
