Our Liverpool Library and Museum Services provide resources and support to our vibrant and diverse community in one of the fastest growing cities in NSW.

We have six library branches located across Liverpool and one regional museum and family history centre.

Liverpool Regional Museum and Family History Centre preserves and promotes Liverpool's history and cultural heritage through historical collections, exhibitions and public programs.

Below you will find descriptions for some of our Library and Museum Services roles. This list is not exhaustive but it is meant to give you an idea of the responsibilities of a Library and Museum employee.

As a Library Systems Officer you will provide systems support in the performance of the library management system and other library Information Technology systems.

You will also work with and assist the Coordinator Information Services and the eServices Librarian in the development of library information systems. Review, maintain and report on the performance of the library management system, planning, coordination of upgrades, system improvements, diagnosing and resolving of issues for the library IT systems.

As a Library Systems Officer, you will also maintain system parameters and liaising with vendors and Council IT staff with developments and issues with the library IT systems. Maintaining systems documentation as directed.

Qualifications

  • Diploma of Library/ Information Systems or equivalent

As a Young Peoples Librarian you will manage the delivery and promotion of services to young people and their parents, carers and teachers in the Liverpool community.

You will also be responsible for developing, maintaining and promoting young peoples’ resources and services, including website and e-resources, in consultation with staff.

As a Young Peoples Librarian, you will design, develop and coordinate programs for young people at the City and Branch libraries including story time and holiday programs. Promoting young peoples’ services to the community, including liaising with childcare centres, schools and community groups such as coordinating and conducting class visits to the Library.

Qualifications

  • Degree or post graduate-level library and information studies qualification that confers eligibility for associate membership of the Australian Library and Information Association.

As Branch Library Officer you will provide and promote the library service to residents of the community and manage the branch library and ensure it becomes a focus for the community and promotes community development.

As Branch Library Officer, you will also be responsible for day to day operational functions such as leadership and management of the Branch Library Team, ensuring staff are rostered and resources are available.

You will also ensure the provision of quality circulation, information, children’s and technology services, high quality library collection meet the needs of the local community.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Library and Information Services or equivalent, conferring eligibility for library technician membership of the Australian Library and Information Association

As a Library Assistant you will provide high level customer service to all visitors to our facility. You will also assist with routine internet and technology enquiries, conducting or assisting with children’s activities ensuring a high standard of quality in programming, presentation and delivery.

You will also be responsible for providing support to the Branch Libraries Coordinator and Branch Library Officer.

  • Certificate III in Information and Cultural Services or equivalent
