Below you will find descriptions for some of our Trades Services roles, this list is not exhaustive but meant to give you a good idea of the work. As a Plumber you will be responsible for maintaining Council’s plumbing assets to the highest quality standards and efficiently and competitively deliver plumbing related construction and maintenance and implementing improved processes and procedures.

Your day to day operational functions will include delivering annual program of plumbing maintenance works (programmed and reactive) through investigation, determining cause, facilitating the appropriate course of action, scheduling materials, delivering the work in line with existing service agreements. Preparing estimates and quotations for minor maintenance projects.

You will also undertake plumbing, drainage and related duties on building construction, maintenance and repair projects as related to Councils building portfolio.

Qualifications

  • Certificate III in Plumbing, including sanitary
  • Current Class C Driver’s Licence
  • White Card (or Work Cover general construction induction card).

As an Electrician you will be responsible for carrying a broad range of electrical works across council in a cost effective and on-time quality manner. The day to day operational functions will include ensuring all jobs are carried out in accordance with the current Australian Standards and Building Codes, WHS requirements. Mentoring, directing electrical apprentices and working effectively & professionally in a team environment.

Qualifications

  • Class C Driver’s Licence (Automatic and Manual)
  • Current Australian licence or certificate as an electrician such as Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician
  • White Card (or Work Cover general construction induction card)

As a Mechanic you will be responsible for servicing and maintaining Council’s plant, fleet and equipment in a cost effective and timely manner to minimise vehicle and plant downtime.

You will be trade qualified with strong fault diagnosis skills gained from your extensive work experience and possess a Class HR Driver’s Licence. As Council’s plant operate every day of the week, repairs may be required at any time – ideally you will have some flexibility regarding working hours and enjoy working in a team with a strong customer focus.

Qualifications

  • MVRIC Licence and relevant Trade Certificates
  • Current HR Drivers Licence

As a Carpenter you will be responsible for maintaining council’s building assets to the highest quality standards and efficiently and competitively delivering carpentry related construction and maintenance and implementing improved processes and procedures.

Your day to day operational functions will include delivering the annual program of building / carpentry maintenance works (programmed and reactive) through investigation, determining cause, facilitating the appropriate course of action, scheduling materials, delivering the work in line with existing service agreements. Preparing estimates and quotations for minor maintenance projects.

You will also undertake carpentry and related duties on building construction, maintenance and repair projects as related to Councils building portfolio.

Qualifications

  • Certificate III in Carpentry and/or Carpentry and Joinery
  • Current Class C Driver’s Licence
  • White Card (or Work Cover general construction induction card)
