Road Occupancy Permits

WHAT IS A ROAD OCCUPANCY?

A road occupancy (ROC) is any activity that disrupts normal traffic flow, impacts pedestrian safety, or occupies public road space, including but not limited to lanes, footpaths, or nature strips. It is mandatory to manage safety and congestion.

Examples of road occupancies are:

  • Construction work
  • Road maintenance such as re-surfacing, or line-marking
  • Lane closures around building sites for safety or equipment access
  • Special events impacting traffic flow
  • Footpath closures
  • Grass cutting along medians requiring lane or shoulder closures
  • Placement of skip bins or containers in road reserves

Filming activities, possibly involving lane/road closures. Filming may also be considered a special event, confirmation with Council’s Transport Management Team may be required
