Council recognises that some ratepayers may face financial difficulty in meeting their rates obligations. Under Section 564 of the Local Government Act 1993 (NSW), Council may approve a payment arrangement that allows rates and charges to be paid by instalments over an agreed period. Approved arrangements will permit regular instalments over a specified period, or until the outstanding balance is paid in full.

The ratepayer must calculate the amount of the arrangement in accordance with the conditions outlined below. Council will accept all reasonable arrangements and will contact the ratepayer if an adjustment is required to align with Council’s Rating Revenue Policy.

Applications will only be accepted if submitted by the property owner or by an authorised third party already recognised by Council. (A third party may be specified at the time of application with the required documentation.)

  • A new application must be submitted on or before the expiry date specified in the approval letter once processed.
  • Payments must start on the commencement date provided in this application and must continue while the arrangement is being assessed.
  • All future rates and charges issued each financial year must be paid in addition to this arrangement.
  • In accordance with Section 566 of the Local Government Act 1993 (NSW), interest will accrue daily on any overdue rates and charges at the annual percentage rate specified by the Minister for Local Government.
  • If financial circumstances cause a delay in payment, you must notify Council immediately by emailing lcc@liverpool.nsw.gov.au.
  • Failure to adhere to the agreed payment arrangement may result in the commencement of legal action without further notice
