Starry Sari Night returning to its original home, George Street, Liverpool CBD, bigger and better than ever. The festivities will also stretch out into surrounding Railway and Scott Streets, and George Lane.

Yes, this is a family-friendly event with something for everyone to enjoy

This is a free event.

The event will take place on Friday 20 May, Saturday 21 May, and Sunday 22 May 2022 from 5pm to 10pm.

This event is an outdoor event. Council reminds attendees to maintain social distancing where possible and practise good hand hygiene. Masks are also recommended where social distancing is not possible.

Starry Sari Night is your gateway to experience South Asia in the South West.

Over three days, the colour, flavours and boldness of South Asian culture will take centre stage through live music and dance performances, a Sari Showcase, food stalls, bazaar and cultural workshops.

Event parking will be available for event attendees at:

  • Warren Serviceway Car Park (short walk via Liverpool City Library Forecourt to George St); and
  • Northumberland Street Carpark (short walk via the arcades to George St).

Additional parking is available at Bathurst Street Carpark, near Westfield Liverpool (walk through Macquarie Mall and turn left onto Moore Street to get to the event site).

Parking will be free at Warren Serviceway and Northumberland St carparks after 6pm on Friday 20 May for event attendees.

Several public transport routes are available to the Starry Sari Night event. The event site is a short walk from Liverpool Train Station and Bus Terminal via Railway Street.

Please note that the Bus Stop – George Street near Scott Street will be out of use between the evening of 19 May and early morning 23 May. An alternate bus stop will be made available at Memorial Avenue near Bathurst Street. Please ask traffic control staff or event crew for directions.

A drop off area has been allocated for this event site. Send an email to Council’s Events team via events@liverpool.nsw.gov.au to discuss your access requirements to the event.

There is no designated entry point to this event, however, spot checks may occur for large or bulky bags on the event site.

Our stallholders will be serving a variety of food options from traditional South Asian to modern fusions to everything in between. Nothing tickling your fancy? No problem! Many of our local businesses and restaurants will remain open into the evening for a delicious sit-down dinner.

There will be a licensed premises on-site at the event.

Smoking will not be permitted at the event site.

For safety reasons, you are unable to bring your own esky / barbeque or shade structure. We will have plenty of seating available onsite.

Items prohibited at Starry Sari Night include:

  • Alcohol and illicit substances of any kind;
  • Glass bottles, glassware or breakable containers;
  • Drones or any other remote-controlled device;
  • Bicycles, Scooters, Skateboards or skates;
  • Animals (excluding service animals);
  • Eskies, barbeques or shade structures;
  • Weapons of any kind, including any item that can be used as a projectile;
  • Knives or Scissors;
  • Fireworks, sparklers or flares;
  • Laser pointers;
  • Cameras and recording devices for commercial use (unless approved by Council); and
  • Other items deemed by security, police or event coordinators as having potential to cause injury or public nuisance.

While we would love to allow pets at this event, we’re expecting a big turnout so we would recommend leaving your pooch at home, particularly if they are sensitive to loud noises and crowds.

Photos can be taken for personal use. We encourage attendees to share with us their photos from the event on social media using Council’s official Instagram hashtag #lovelivo.

Professional photography (including the use of tripods for safety reasons) will not be permitted without prior consent from Liverpool City Council’s Communications team.

ATMs are located around the Liverpool CBD including George St, Macquarie Street and Macquarie Mall.

George Street (between Moore and Scott St), Scott Street (between Macquarie and Quest Liverpool), and George Lane will be closed to vehicular traffic from 6pm on Thursday 19 May.

Pedestrian traffic will be permitted and guided by our traffic control team and site crew. Note there will be several heavy vehicles onsite between 6pm Thursday 19 May and 4pm Friday 20 May. We advise you to avoid the area and follow the directions of staff.

Roads will remain closed until 6am Monday 23 May. If you are a parent dropping off your child to school at Liverpool Public School, further communications about changed traffic conditions will be communicated through your school newsletter.

The show must go on! If weather conditions become extreme and pose risk to attendees, performers and crew, the event may be cancelled. Notification will be provided via Council’s social media channels.
